Rev Fr. Varghese Pattammady Passes Away

It is with deepest sorrow, we hereby inform that Rev Fr. Varghese Pattammady has peacefully entered the Kingdom of Heaven in the early morning hours on Thursday, April 1, 2010. His last hours were in LakeShore hospital in Cochin, Kerala.

Achen was a spiritual leader in Washington malayalee community for a long period of time. He laid the foundation of Syrian Orthodox Church in Washington Metropolitan area. He was also the founder and the first president of Kerala Association of Greater Washington. JaneyCenter, an institution for the disabled located in Cochin, Kerala is a major endeavor he has accomplished to serve the community. JaneyCenter is named in the honor of his late daughter Janey.

He was not only a spiritual leader, but also a dominant mentor and a leader for the community. Achen left a remarkable foot print in WashingtonDC area. His exceptional love and care will certainly remain live in the memory of many Washingtonians for ever. He is survived by Kochamma (Rosamma) and an adopted son Zachariah. Let’s pray for the departed soul be entered the Kingdom of Heaven.
